I've been drawing since I can remember, but always as a hobby.
Now thanks to my fiancé, family, and some really special friends, I'm starting to get my work out there.
Scratchboard is such a cool medium with the potential for lots of detail. I've tried my hand at other forms of art, but I think my thing is putting as much detail as I see in my reference photos. The images looks so crisp with the matte black background that I'm seriously hooked on this. I will lose track of time and spend hours scratching away.
I am currently working on a lot of animal pieces, but hope to include other subject matter real soon. Some of the pieces are done from reference photos at a wildlife sanctuary in Bonsal. The sale of the prints go to support the animals.
It would be great if I could set up similar partnerships if there are any other animal institutions willing to sell my art as fundraisers.
My background is in Ecology, which helps with an understanding of nature, and hopefully I'll be entering a masters program in biology in the spring.
